Re: [disklavier] Wagon Grand playing MIDI Files

2015-11-07 by PEOPLES, SAM

Hi bud.
Ah yes I know I am a computer geek myself I have a MIDI file on my computer I know how to do it your right it is easier, I just wanted the official modules for the disks as my family just wants to pop in a disk if they wanna use it without have to faf about with the laptop-MIDI cable, plus the modules give you the tone generator and other stuff which I kinda want even though it is more costly and the laptop setup is more convenient ,I'm sure I can get a DSR1 and DCD1 and I know how to set em up ,for a reasonable deal seeing as they're quite old bits of gear now. Just a case of who has em.
Cheers

I'm sure you have your reasons for wanting "official modules" but have you considered that there is a lot more support for visually impaired individuals using MIDI files? I have a customer (also in the UK) who has very low vision. We have exchanged ideas and I have provided and adapted programs of mine to help him play MIDI files. For example I have a program that creates excel files with hyperlinks to the MIDI files. Excel is well supported by screen reading programs.

If you are interested I can give you his e-mail address. I probably want to check with him first so let me know if you are interested. You can contact me directly at the e-mail address in my signature at the end of this e-mail.

Hi everyone.
I have a 1989 Yamaha G2B Disklavier wagon grand model PPG-10R and I have always wanted to learn The Sims New Beginnings song. However it is a MIDI file and the original wagon as far as I know only plays Yamaha's own E-SEQ files. I have heard it can be upgraded to read SMF files although I have found people on here that have DSR1 and DCD1 modules which I plan to buy later on but right now I don't quite have the money. I realise you can use your laptop via MIDI cable to do the same thing but I really want the official modules even if they are outdated.

This is a real interesting thing I've been wanting to do for a few weeks because I can't read music I'm partially-sighted and I can't pick this one up as easily by ear.
Cheers
