1-I think yes hrough the « FromToPc » function with ethernet connection, where im not sure is if there is a protection on the files of yamaha floppies… Ill have to make try outs. Maybe someone here knows first hand.
3- You can have the dkc-850 random play songs with the function « timer play » in « set-up » menu (page 51 of the manual)
4- I use a router and ethernet cables on my system, for wifi I dont think the dkc-850 is equipped, maybe a workaround exist.
5- I use Qmidi which is pretty good. But I use also another software to allow more flexibility like channels swapping or muting or redirecting its called Midi-Connections by Sarayuth Thampokin (on appl store). I send my midi data from the Qmidi to a virtual output (like IAC Bus1) and in Midi-Conncection the midi data is redirected from that IAC Bus1 to the Dkc-850 with all the modifications defined in the Midi-Connections pgrm.
The same company has the MidiKit program which permits to modify midi files.
8-Maybe that to do with the difference between « title », f »ile name » and « sequence name »… in the MidiKit pgrm you can see that each file can have differences between these fields. I dont remember which one the dkc-850 displays…
For the firmware there is a function within the « Internet » facility of the unit when connected to the network. It will tell if there is a new firmware available.
I have been using the dkc-850 for a couple years and it does what its suppose to do. Manu features are missing and the whole design and way of using is a bit « dated » considering where we are at today (the sound module brings you back decades, the sequencing capacities have been unfortunately curtailed severely etc… ) but its workswell … I wish secretly for a completely new unit LOL
