I leave my DC3 Mark II on all the time and nothing has ever happened to it. I recall that a few years ago the power transmission line to the small town of Seward, Alaska, was hit by a voltage surge that blew-out a number of people's TV's. You are probably also aware that TV's and VCR's left plugged-in and unattended sometimes catch fire. There is a type of power strip that has an additional 8-foot cord with the switch on it.
