Unplug cord?

Just got my MX100A.  I was reading through the manual and it said "if 
not using the Disklavier for a sustained period of time, unplug the 
cord from the outlet also (in addition to powering off)"...or 
something to that effect.  

This was discouraging since I just managed to get the beast up 
against the wall.  Does anyone have an idea of what Yamaha means by a 
sustained period of time?  Better yet, does anyone have an 
understanding of this precaution and what this risk might be to 
leaving it plugged in?  I certainly can't move it back and forth 
everytime I use it but I could put a power strip to it if necessary.  
Perhaps this is a surge protection risk and a surge protector would 
do the job.

I leave my DC3 Mark II on all the time and nothing has ever happened to it.  I
recall that a few years ago the power transmission line to the small town of
Seward, Alaska, was hit by a voltage surge that blew-out a number of people's
TV's.  You are probably also aware that TV's and VCR's left plugged-in and
unattended sometimes catch fire.

There is a type of power strip that has an additional 8-foot cord with the
switch on it.  By using one of those you could probably conceal the power srrip
behind the piano.

I had a similar problem and solved it with a surge protector and a remote
device used promarily for Christmas lights outside.  Purchased from a
hardware store, it has a remote that looks like a garage door controller.  I
keep it near the piano and a click of the button turns it on and off.

Works well for me and allows the plug and protector to hide behind the
curtains.
