my midimod2 program will move pedal data to channel 1 if that option is selected. i also have a program that lists midi events to a text log file so you can see things such as what channel the notes and pedal data are on. both can be found on this page of my web site. i have many other utilities to do just about anything you can think of to MIDI files but most are not on the download page. ask me if there is some strange thing you want to do. i often surprise myself at how many weird things i have written utilities for.

Yes, George, I think that many of the MIDI files I tried to play had pedal data on ch 3, hence requiring HP mode. I remember using a program of Spencer's to move data from ch3 to ch1, and vice versa.I still have some MIDI files in which the pedal data does not work. I have some wonderful files from PG Music's Pianist series, but sustain pedal is not working. I will have to investigate in a MIDI editor to see where pedal data is.Thanks for your help...
