Hello,
I am happy to be a new member of this user group. I inherited a Yamaha G2 Disklavier piano equipped with a DKC100R controller. I believe this would be considered a Mark II model, but not sure.
The piano is a beautiful instrument on its own and I am glad the piano lessons I endured as a child can be used. I have recently discovered wonderful music by David Nevue and Ludovico Einaudi.
What is so amazing is my parents had over 240 floppy disks. Over 50 of them have never been opened. They also had the software utilities that I have been dabbling in. I have managed to copy some of the prized disks that I would never want to lose to corruption or damage.
The piano traveled a really long way from Texas to Ohio and survived beautifully. The player worked very well playing the floppies but the recording part did not work for some of the bass notes. I contacted Yamaha and found a great repairman in Cincinnati and he made a few trips to my house to get the recording working.
Now I am taking on trying to play the PianoSoft Plus disks that utilize the TG100 tone generator. I found a working unit on ebay and now those disks play as well. The only problem I am having is that the piano channel also plays through the amp and I would like to null that channel out. I have managed to be able to reduce the piano channel volume to 0 but for every new song it resets back to 110.
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate some help. I did grow up with DOS, and the dawn of personal computers but this is out of my wheelhouse.
I found the original bill for the piano which was purchased in 1995 and it mentions QRS software but I couldn't find that in my parents house.
I would like to try Pianostream also but I will leave that for the next project. Also if there is another tone generator that would work better or easier to use I am also up for that. Sorry for the long introduction but I am so thrilled to have this wonderful piano.
