I did some checking around this week on our Yahoo Groups problem and have two updates to report:
1) Yamaha said they are working on a corporate-level forum, but "it will not be ready for launch for a couple years. The reason is because of the number of additional resources needed to create one, and because it has to represent the entire Yamaha product family, possibly at a global scale. Until we can provide something direct to Disklavier users, my suggestion is to utilize PianoWorld for your discussion needs. There are already a number of Yamaha dealers, reps, and users on that site. Our dealers and reps monitor the site regularly and it is much easier to access than a closed group."
2) I contacted Frank Baxter, the administrator of Piano World, and he is willing to create some additional sub-forums there for solenoid-based player systems, particularly if a few of us would take on the task of moderating them so as not to burden his existing volunteers.� Frank is in the middle of a move right now and suggested we follow up on this in a couple of weeks.
Unless other options emerge between now and then, this might be a reasonable option for us, especially given the relatively low volume of postings to our Yahoo Group over the past couple of years (especially once you subtract the "Get me off this list!" messages that inevitably appear after any dormant period).� Piano World does support links and inline photos in postings. There is no file repository, but we could find some other options to meet that need.
