Good morning, everyone. In a message dated 6/12/02 9:23:43 AM, Mark writes: << I understand Disklavier Pro instruments are being used for the competition. There was the possibility that, with dense pieces, the XP data for an hour program might overwhelm a memory slot on the Pro or a single floppy disk. Furthermore, computer-editing of Pro data with typical sequencing programs results in a mixup of the positioning of controllers 16 and 81 which hold the extra bits of resolution. So, the data is posted as enhanced data. That data will still play back noticeably better on a Pro. The ehanced Pro data is still superior by virtue of its greater timing resolution of 384 clocks per quarter note (compared to 96 on a regular Disklavier), 128 increments of pedal (instead of 16), and key release velocity. I think that you will be impressed by the results. Keep in mind, however, that these pieces were played live and that the mistakes that would normally be deleted from a commercial release are present. Regards, PianoBench
