You either use the To Host port OR the Midi cables in conjunction with a MIDI interface connected to your computer. If you use the To HOst port, set the switch to MIDI and use the CBX cable and driver. If your laptop is a MAC, there is an extra step in setting up the MIDI port. If your computer is a PC, you still have to choose which MIDI interface you are using. This is usually done in the Options menu of the software. The whole thing is a matter of setting the switches correctly - often easier said than done the first time you do this!
