Re: [disklavier] Help with settings for Disklavier and computer interface.

2002-07-26 by PianoBench@aol.com

Good evening, everyone.

In a message dated 7/25/02 7:58:17 PM, Carol writes:

<< You either use the To Host port OR the Midi cables in conjunction with a
MIDI interface connected to your computer. If you use the To HOst port, set
the switch to MIDI and use the CBX cable and driver. >>

I think that Carol mistyped. If you use the To Host connection, set the
switch to Mac (for Macintosh) or to PC2 (for a US Windows computer) or to PC1
(for a Japanese Windows computer). If you use MIDI cables, set the switch to
MIDI.

If you are using the To Host connection with a Macintosh, you will connect
the other end of the serial cable to either the Modem or the Printer port. As
far as the Macintosh is concerned, you are using a standard serial MIDI
interface (which is actually built into the Disklavier's control unit).

If you are using the To Host connection with a Windows computer, you must
install the Yamaha CBX driver AND configure your MIDI software so that it
understands that it should communicate with the serial port.
