Playing MIDI files on Disklavier IIXG

2002-08-14 by Jim Walski

Hello,

Setup: Disklavier Upright MarkIIXG, Power Tracks Audio software.

I am very new to the MIDI concept. I just recently started trying to play
MIDI files on my disklavier. However, I can never seem to get the piano
part to play on the Piano and not through the speakers.

Last night I made a copy of one of my Pianosoft disks, using the dkvutils
from the yahoo file section to a DD disk. The copy plays perfectly on the
system. I then copied one of the .fil files to my harddisk and converted it
to MIDI using the eseq2midi. I then opened the file in Power tracks and it
asks if I would like to extract the channels, I selected yes ( I also tried
no with the same outcome). Then I took that one file and put it on a blank
disk, thinking I should be able to play the file on the piano, no luck
everything goes through the speakers.

I read in the manuals and some searches through the archives that the piano
part must be on channel 1. I tried using the PowerTracks rechannel ( not
sure if I even did this right ) function but that produces the same result.
I have the same problem with files I have downloaded from the internet. I
am pretty sure I have the disklavier set to play channel 1.

There has to be something basic I am missing to allow the piano to play.
Any help or websites that might shed some light on the problem would be much
appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
