In intention, at least, the Disklavier portion of the instrument was 
designed so as not to interfere or even be connected to the piano 
portion.  While that design intention is true of the action, it's not 
quite true for the left and right pedals, though the intrusion is minimal.

Therefore, I would make the assumption that you are experiencing a piano 
problem--not a DKV problem.  A good piano technician, Yamaha-trained or 
otherwise, should be able to troubleshoot the cause of the thump without 
needing to know about the DKV portion.  If the technician that you have 
can't decide whether the thump belongs there or not, I'd suggest you 
look for another technician--one who is qualified to look at the action 
and see what's going on.
