It depends on the model of the control box. Is it a DKC100XG or a DKC55? The XG means it has a built-in tone generator, so if you hook up a powered speaker or two you would be able to hear the Ensemble sounds if they were present in the music file. The other difference is whether or not it can use high density disks or only double density disks, and if it will play SMF 1 files as well as SMF 0 files.
