Hi Bas, "DKC-5R" looks like the model number for a control unit, not the Disklavier itself. Real professionals like PianoBench and Carol might know them by heart, but I'm less familiar with control unit models. For the Disklavier's model, you have to look inside the piano. These pictures are for locating serial numbers but the model number of mine is right next to the serial: http://www.yamaha.com/ycaservice/group005/biggrand.htm http://www.yamaha.com/ycaservice/group005/bigupright.htm Earlier Disklavier models can only use 720k double density floppy disks, not the 1.44mb high density floppy disks commonly found in computer stores. Also, the earliest models can only play Yamaha's E-SEQ files (extension .FIL), then later models added MIDI type 0, then even later models added compatibility for MIDI type 1 files. Whatever the generation your Disklavier is, the most universally playable format for Disklaviers would be E-SEQ - you can download a program from the group's file vault to convert MIDI files to E-SEQ: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disklavier/files/Utility%20Programs/dkvutils.zip (Also, see if you can find an old 720k floppy to put the files on.) As to the Yamaha PianoSoft disks, they have a deliberately scrambled sector to prevent your computer from reading them normally (for copy protection reasons). However you can find a program in the same DKVUTILS collection that allows you to get the files out. Hope this is somewhat helpful so that you can play some new year music soon! CCW
