Re: [disklavier] problem downloading for diskklavier

PianoBench's suggestion for buying the DSR1 is the best advice in the long
run. It is truly the least hassle solution.

However, if you need music for a party tonight, use the blank diskette that
came with your piano. It should be a 720k double density disk. Format this
disk in your Disklavier and record a song on it. (To format the disk for the
MX80 press the Record button while holding down the Stop button. Then press
Play twice.)

Download the dkvutil program from the file vault as well as some music files
with the .fil extension. Run the disk copy program - dkvcopy - on the disk
you just recorded on and use the same disk for the copy as well as the
target. Now your computer will see this disk because something has been
written on the first sector. Transfer some of those .fil songs to this
disk. You may also need to run the Explore utility. Your disklavier should
see these files. Some folks have claimed to be able to tape over the left
hole on a high density disk (1.44) and fake the dkv into thinking it is a
720k disk. I never was successful at this.

By time I send this, it will be about 10:00 pm your time. Maybe try this
tomorrow, and just have a little more cheer tonight! Until you get the hang
of these utilities, they can be very frustrating trying to get them to work
on the fly. Happy New Year!
