I also have an old MX-80.  One solution is to by-pass the whole floppy disc
step, if your computer is anywhere near your Disklavier.  I run a midi
cable from my Mac laptop directly into the DKV's MIDI IN port.  Not an
elegant solution, perhaps, but there is no conversion software for Macs vis
a vis .FIL files, anyway.  There are thousands of regular midi files on the
Net.  Just get a sequencer program that plays midi files (there are several
freeware and shareware versions,) and install a midi card if you don't have
one.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
