Hello everyone, I am new to this group and am really enjoying it so far. I am posting this message in the hopes that someone might have some information to share... I just recently acquired my first piano, an MX101R Yamaha Disklavier. It was made in 1991 for the Japanese market and it previously belonged to a family who brought it with them when they moved to Canada. It is in very good condition and does not appear to have suffered any dryness related problems, but there is an issue concerning access to the test and maintenance modes of this piano. A technician came by my house yesterday and he could not access the maintenance and test modes. He used the regular trick of holding two particular buttons when turning it on, and it didn't access the maintenance modes. He was really baffled by this so he called Yamaha Canada, but they weren't able to offer him any information -- since they only deal in Disklaviers made for the North American market. I tried using the instructions I found online to access the modes myself, and I had no luck either. Does anybody here know how to access these modes in this particular model of Japanese market Disklavier? I would really like to have the piano recalibrated when it gets serviced next (soon) but I don't see how this can happen without getting into the test/maintenance modes... Of interest might be the fact that the menu is in fact in Japanese for all the regular use (recording and playback) but in English for the midi setup mode. It also has the peculiar trait of being completely unresponsive unless it has a disk in the drive and is accessing it. Thanks to anyone reading this message who may or may not be able to offer some helpful information... I am looking forward to sorting this out, since I am really in love with this instrument and would really like to enjoy the best it has to offer. Best regards, Adri.
