Carol, First, thanks for your response. I read it yesterday but wanted to try this and get details before responding. I tried both things that you recommended. In fact, the options were set to what you recommended already... However I did try changing them around. I examined all the connections and read through the "silent operation manual" and here are my findings. I do have a Mark IIXG disklavier. The control unit (on the right) is a DKC500R. On the left, of course, is the silent control unit. The speaker is plugged into the "Aux out" of the silent control unit. There isn't really anyplace on teh control unit to plug in the speaker. This quote is from the silent operation manual... "with Disklavier Silent/Pro series, the OUTPUT R,L/MONO connectors have been replaced with AUX OUT,IN connectors on the Silent Control Box" The silent operation manual goes on to explain that you can use the silent system and the speaker to play quietly. The instructions state the headphones should NOT be plugged into the silent control box in order to do this. It never specifically states that by plugging the headphones in the speaker should be shut off, but it certainly seems to be implied. Is anyone aware of someone at Yamaha that I can confirm how this is supposed to operate? Thanks again Carol (and anyone else who replies) Brian --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "Carol Beigel" <carolrpt@h...> wrote: > There are 2 things you can try. Both use the Function key.
