Danny,

Our messages crossed, but you will see that my surge suppressers (all by 
APC and not what I would describe as cheap) did a great job of 
protecting the equipment from a direct lightening strike on our home 
which did $7,000 worth of damage to equipment not plugged into these 
UPS's.  Everything in the house plugged into surge suppressers (or not 
plugged into any protection) was destroyed and had to be replaced.
