For that kind of money, I would definitely try both the pro and the DC3A.  
The difference is in the recording.  The pro gives a much finer 
reproduction, however, to my ears, I have always thought the "regular" model 
was just fine, and like you observed, it also comes with a sound system and 
speakers.  Also, because the pro records more data, the song files are 
bigger - so big that a 3 movement piano concerto does not fit on one floppy 
or memory disk.

I always advocate the "try before you buy" plan!  The more information you 
have about what a instrument does, as well as what it does NOT do, can save 
regrets later.  It all comes down to what you plan to do with your new 
instrument.  There is none finer for professional recording than the Pro.
