Carol... Thank you for your prompt and thorough reply. Can I upgrade my Mark II to a III? And how do I find out how much memory I have? I already have the DCD1. Joseph F. Yamaha is putting the final touches on describing how this upgrade will work. There will be two considerations to take into account when upgrading your system. One, will be memory requirements, as some systems will also need to upgrade to 8 meg. The other consideration will be a list of CDs that this upgrade will work with. Yamaha has total control over the products they produce, i.e. Disklaviers, and PianoSoft floppies and CDs, and has always made certain that their products were backwardly compatible with their older Disklaviers. However, Yamaha has no control over how certain CDs were manufactured, recorded or produced in the past (or present) that do not bear their label. That means that there are many CDs out there where the pitch of the music is not anything close to standard pitch - A440. With the MarkIII DKV system this is not a problem because it is capable of adjusting audio pitches to a great degree as many have discovered by pushing the Transpose button and listening to Simon and Garfunkle sing in deep bass to falsetto voices! There is no audio pitch correction on the older systems, i.e. you can transpose the MIDI on the floppy or in memory, but not the audio on an audio CD. If you keep your piano tuned to A440, there might be a perceivable pitch difference if the audio CD you want to record your piano to is prerecorded to a pitch that is either higher or lower than this standard. Upgraders will need to pay attention to the pitch of the audio CDs they want to hear their pianos playing with, and pay attention to what Yamaha has to say concerning these lists. I cannot speak for Yamaha, so in short time they will publish their "official" instructions and details of what and where you can get what you need.
