Re: [disklavier] New Keyboard needed

2003-09-04 by Leigh Whitley

Hi Budds,
Sorry about the "no Record message" it seems that the mark 2 version had the hammer sensors. I have the Service Manual for that model. About the sensor message, there are 3 sets of sensors, Hammer sensors, Key Sensors and Pedal sensors. Key sensors are under the keys and the lead from them is on the left side of the action and plugs in to the left side or sender side of the hammer sensors. If the pedals are not operating check that they are plugged in, it may be the pedal sensors that are being referred to in the error message.
It would help me a lot if you could describe the exact damage that the keyboard has suffered. The "recut keys", have they been fitted with "shutters" for the "key sensors"?
Have you had the pedal drive unit open yet? and does all look well in there?
I await your reply..............................Leigh

Hi Leigh,

Thanks for your email and the only one I have got so far with some advice.

What I have is the DGH1BII with the mark 2 control box DKC100R and has the
record function. The hammer sensors are there on the hammer action unit. I
have cleaned the connections several times and fitted all correctly. The
keyboard sensor optical unit had to be opened up by me as there was foreign
matter in it and had to be cleaned. I did this very carefully with out
damaging any of the optics and put it back the way it was. I could see that
all the LED like lights coming through the optical fibers work with a RED
glow when the power is on.

The control unit it self does not go into record mode. I guess there is a
link between the message "sensor not connected" and this. What is your
opinion. I am no electronics expert and does not know this for sure. Just
going by logic. I dont know where to look. Also the pedals does not work
too. But this I can not tell for sure as I do not know whether the software
I have down loaded from the site has pedal movement in it.

Thanks for any suggestions and any idea where I could get the key board
from?
many thanks
Budds
