Re: [disklavier] temporary reply to pianosmart questions

I would like to clarify the fact that my earlier message this morning regarding the MIDI cabling issues with the DCD1 referred ONLY to the situation in which you are connecting an updated DCD1 to your piano for use with Smart PianoSoft disks (i.e. floppy disks that play synchronously with a companion audio CD).
When you connect a DCD1 to a Disklavier for the sole purpose of playing traditional PianoSoft Plus Audio CDs, there is no need to use both MIDI ports. In this case, you simply connect MIDI Out on the DCD1 to MIDI In on the Disklavier. This leaves the MIDI Out port on the Disklavier available for use with an external device or computer. Also, this leaves MIDI In on the DCD1 available for use with an external device or computer.
The "Yamaha CD Player DCD1+PS Operation Manual" (which comes with the update disks for updating the features of a DCD1) contains numerous diagrams for connecting the DCD1 to various Disklavier control units as well as external speakers. I believe that new DCD1s that ship with the new features already installed will come with a new manual that has these same diagrams.
