Re: [disklavier] Adding Silent Feature to DC7A MK II

2003-09-23 by Carol Beigel

Unfortunately, you cannot add a Yamaha silent feature after market. Yamaha
makes the best one in the whole world, but it involves more than just the
rail that stops the hammers from hitting the strings. Yamaha uses special
"jacks" in their piano actions that have double nubs. This affects how the
keys feel to your fingers. Also, on Yamaha Disklaviers that have this
Silent feature, the piano tone comes from a different tone generator than
the other Ensemble sounds. If you really need this feature, consider
trading in one of your pianos on a new MarkIII. It will then have
absolutely everything!
