Can't talk about the issue of how loud the
solenoids are in the Mark III versus the Mark I. I think actually the quiet
function he's referring to in the Mark III, involves "disconnecting" the keys
and piping the music through the built-in speakers as quietly as you like. but
the keys don't move - kind of defeats the purpose - might as well just have a CD
playing.
the issue with not playing the Cue Time is true,
but honestly, it hasn't been a great success and I'm not sure a lot of people
feel that it is a good educational tool. I'd be interested in others' comments.
another issue is that the Mark IV is coming out
next year.

Has the fiber optics changed at all between a Disklavier produced in 1997
(Mark I) and the latest Mark III's?
Thanks for any information you can shed on the subject. I tend not to trust
salesmen completely, especially when they're trying to talk me out of
purchasing a used one for $6,000 less than new.
