A MarkI (MX100A or MX100B) does not play MIDI files from a floppy disk. You must convert the midis to ESEQ first, then put them on a DD 720k disk. Use the MID2ESEQ software in the dkvutil. A Mark II will play standard MIDI file format 0 also from a DD 720k disk. All DKVs however, will play a MIDI file from a computer through a MIDI interface connected to the control box. Remember when downloading MIDI files from the internet two very important things. The Disklavier will play the piano keys from whatever data is on Channel 1 and 2 regardless of the track assignments or voice selected. Since many midis on the internet are created on electronic keyboards, the velocity is way too high for a piano. Make sure the velocity (or controller 7) is set to a number under 100. I find about 65 is just right for my upright DKV.
