I recently panicked at the thought of my crazy
uncle Vern gaining ownership of my family name domain on the web and paying him
a kings ransom to getting ownership away from him, so I took action. I am
now the proud owner of www.MuncyFamily.com
You can check out my (work-in process) home page at
http://MuncyFamily.com . You can put
www. in front of it if you like, but it is not necessary. I found a cheap
and easy way to register, host and own the domain at www.halfpricehosting.com . The
great side benefit is that I get 10 emails (@ muncyfamily.com) that will be
mine forever.
I would have bought muncy.com but some vanity
e-mail service that bought up all but the most obscure available family
name domains already owns it. They offer rent you subdomains and e-mails,
but you don't own the name.
If you haven't considered ownership of such a
domain might mean to you later, you should.
