Sheldon, When I first received my disklavier (a C2) it was set up to only play channel 1. There is an option that needs to be turned on. You will notice, once you have it turned on, that the light above the "L" and the "R" on the control unit will be lit up (allowing you to mute one of the hands if you desire). Most likely only the "L" side lights up currently based on what you have said. I have forgotten what the option is right now. It should be in the manual or you could just page through the options on the control unit. I'll see if I can find it if someone else doesn't chime in with the answer.
