I own a MPX1Z MarkIIXG silent system upright disklavier (with DKC500RW

sound (NOT the XG piano sound) playing at the same time as the acoustic
piano?
No.
Also, how easy is it to add an external XG tone generator for the XG parts
on a Pianosoft Plus / midi arrangement, but have the silent system piano
sound coming through? The DB51XG board sounds rather dated compared to
even the bottom end of Yamaha's home keyboards at the moment - I'd like to
add some sparkle :)
If you connect an external MIDI tone generator to the Disklavier, you can use it for the MIDI sounds. Set MIDI Out=Ensemble Out when you play a floppy disk recording.
Normally, the Disklavier will not send the piano part(s) to the external tone generator. If you want to do that, set PianoPart Ensemble Out=On.
To my knowledge, the only way to hear the silent system piano sample is to go into silent mode.
