Connecting to a computer via the host port eliminates the need to use a midi interface. Using a PC (or Mac) linked to your Disklavier allows you to record into and playback directly from your computer without transferring the data to a disk first. You can then drive the Disklavier using any program that can send a midi data stream to a PC serial port. The possibilities are limited only by the software you run. As far as editing the Pro specific "XP" mode, PianoBench@... perhaps you. I can't. All I know is that "XP" data includes key position data, which is not addressed by any type of sequencer, yet. What would I be able to do on my PC if I get this cable and hook a DC7Pro up to a laptop? Also, I am a software engineer. Is there a sufficient interface and would I have access to neccessary information to write my own XP editor? In other words, I'd like to write a program for editing XP performance data graphically. ?? -steve --- In disklavier@egroups.com, "Mark Wisner" <MWisner@y...> wrote: > You can get the cable to link a PC (sub-D 9 pin serial) to a current Disklavier "Host" port by calling 800-854-1569 then push "2" and then "1" at the menu choices.
