Mark, Thanks for following up to my questions!!! So is there any inherent advantage to using the serial cable instead of the MIDI ports other than eliminating the need for a MIDI port on the PC? If I already have MIDI ports on my PC, will the host port/cable on the Disklavier buy me anything? Can it do other things besides standard MIDI as far as communicating with the Disklavier? Does it eliminate the midi delay problem you've all been discussing last Feb? I think you answered my question about XP editing...which is "NO". Yamaha does not provide an editor and since the XP data contains information that is not represented in MIDI in a straightforward way....it would be difficult at best to edit an XP performance (after conversion to MIDI) in a midi sequencer without losing some crucial XP information. Right? All that being said, who can I talk to, in order to find out more technical information about the Disklavier? I'm a computer programmer, so maybe I can throw together some kind of XP performance editor, that is, if the Disklavier provides the neccessary interface. Also, when recording in XP mode, does this delay problem also persist? And can the Disklavier be sync'd as a slave to an external midi sequencer while recording/playing XP performances? Sorry for all the questions... I'm thinking about plunking down $50,000 for a DC7Pro for my recording studio, but I absolutely need to be crystal clear on the technical issues before spending that kind of money. Does anyone know if the manuals for the Disklavier Pro are available somewhere on the web for download?
