Thanks for the reply Bob,
My setup is different than the one you described.  I am running a cable from a serial port on the pc to the "to host" mini din plug on the back of the xg as detailed in the dk manual. The xg midi control switch is set to pc2, again as described in the manual. The Xg is set to
receive piano part on channel one.  Using calkwalk demo9 or Anvil Studio to playback midi files to piano.  Cant find any setting in the software of either program to send a midi stream to the serial port on the pc.  I suspect this is the problem.  Yamaha manual makes no reference
to a specific software program to use this setup even though they detail the physical hook up from pc to piano.

I tried to get instruction from my dealer but no one there was able to help.  The dealer in turn referred me to Yamaha.  They didn't seem to have a clue either!  I would think that Yamaha would make software available to support this setup.

Any Input or suggestions are more than welcome.
