Rodger, here is an old DUG message that I saved. Not having a host port myself,
I can't speak from personal experience. You will need to download and install
the driver referred to in the message. You will select it as your MIDI out
device either through the Windows control panel or through the sequencer you are
using. If that still does not work for you, two very good resources are Mark
Wisner at Yamaha, and George Litterst aka PianoBench@...
While you are at www.yamaha.com, you might consider signing up to join the DUG
group, if you haven't already.
Good luck!
Bob

Glen, are you using a cable from the "To Host" port with
the switch set on "PC2"? Using this setup (the easiest,
IMHO) requires installing a device driver for the com port
in your PC, available at www.yamaha.com, in the section
labeled "Drivers". If you have done this, and still get no
communication between the two, call me at 800-854-1569
8:30-5 PST and I'll be glad to help you out.

Have you installed the midi driver into your windows
program? It's available on the Yamaha site if you haven't.

Perhaps someone has advice here.
I'm a new user of Disklavier DC1IIXG and this is my first
posted message here. Even though I have great computer
experience and music experience, I'm still having trouble
getting MIDI connections from the piano to the computer.
I could not get anything to happen in either direction when
I connected the piano to a computer. To simplify the
problem, I tried connecting the piano to an inexpensive
Yamaha synthesizer to reduce the great number of things
that could go wrong with trying to connect to the computer.
I was able to get the piano to send MIDI signals to play on
the synthesizer, but I can not get the piano to play when
sending signals to it from either the synthesizer or from
the computer. I am using the MIDI connections, and yes,
the switch on the back of the Disklavier is in the MIDI
position. I've tried changing the parameters via the
Disklavier front panel, but still can't get it to play.
Obviously, I'm doing something stupid here. All other
functions work. The operating system version is 1.33. Of
course, diskettes play fine. Must be something in the setup
!
Any suggestions please.
