With great anticipation, I have received my "new" MX100 II and it looks and plays beautifully! Thanks to the info here for getting me started on converting the midi files of old reproducing piano rolls to Disklavier format. The procedure is painless and the music is wonderful. I did have a problem in that the contrast on the LCD display was so low that I could not see ANYTHING on the screen. Upon really close inspection with the room lights very low and looking at just the right angle, I could just make out "Insert Disk." Do any of you have a similar problem? I have a technical background in electronics and armed with the technical service manual from Yamaha and my test equipment, I diagnosed the problem to the display itself. This, I thought, was odd in that I have never run into a display which faded to nothing over time. In checking with the Yamaha technical staff, I found out that this is not too uncommon for a display over 10 years old. I ordered a new display module, installed the unit myself (about 1 hour of very careful work)and...problem solved! Works like new! Well, it is new, the display that is. If you are suffering with a very light display, you may wish to consider having your display replaced. The part is about $230 plus the installation time for your technician. I have nothing but good things to say about Yamaha technical support. Every contact with them has been first class. Mike
