Re: [disklavier] Adding tone module(s) to a Mark II with DKC500R XG

2006-05-11 by George F. Litterst

Good evening, everyone.

Gary, you can use a MIDI cable to connect MIDI Out on your control unit to MIDI In on the external tone generator. Be sure to set the To Host switch on the control unit to MIDI.

In addition, there are two MIDI Out settings that you will use on the front panel of the control unit:

--Press Function
--Select MIDI Setup and press Enter
--Select MIDI Out and press Enter

Set MIDI Out to Keyboard Out when you wish to send MIDI data directly from the keyboard to the tone generator. Set MIDI Out to Ensemble Out when you want to play a song file and hear the ensemble parts played by the tone generator.

Hi,
I was wondering about buying an extra tone module(s) to the midi setup on my Disklavier. I wonder if anybody has experience of doing this and can recommend suitable tone modules. A friend is selling a Korg 03W/R for instance.

My reason for doing this is twofold: to improve upon the XG sounds in particular the percussion and woodwind. Also to experiment with new sounds and instruments using the Disklavier as a master keyboard.

I also need some advice about setting up the DKC500R XG in terms of physical connection to other device(s) and configuration settings.

Thanks in advance
Gary
