Some of the best samples I've heard lately have been in computer-based modules, such as the Garritan Personal Orchestra. ( www.garritan.com ). You can do things like get different sounds for different kinds of wind attacks, different bowings, different pitch fluctuations, different variations of drum attacks, etc. The drawback to these is that they don't help very much if you just use them for an existing file. In fact, most files sound best on whatever created them. I'm not all that familiar with any hardware modules newer than the last 10 years, but I'd definitely be interested in whatever others are saying.
Best,
Shana

Hi,
I was wondering about buying an extra tone module(s) to the midi setup on my Disklavier. I wonder if anybody has experience of doing this and can recommend suitable tone modules. A friend is selling a Korg 03W/R for instance.
My reason for doing this is twofold: to improve upon the XG sounds in particular the percussion and woodwind. Also to experiment with new sounds and instruments using the Disklavier as a master keyboard.
I also need some advice about setting up the DKC500R XG in terms of physical connection to other device(s) and configuration settings.
Thanks in advance
Gary
