DKV conversion of elect. piano parts

2006-05-18 by Fred Dismuke

Greetings Everyone,

I've gained invaluable knowledge from this forum over the past year as
I have grown in understanding my MX-80 and am thankful for it. I am
hoping someone has addressed a curiosity that I have about multiple
midi device through-put.

Though I'm not a musician, my ear has become very critical and there
are many arrangements that use electric piano and harpsichord that
lose the respective instrument's contribution in arrangements
w/multiple piano tracks. Though many pieces sound fine translated to
the upright, some arrangements, especially jazz, are so "unnatural"
(pun intentional) sounding without the elect piano voice. My MX-80 has
its original controller and I have added the Yamaha DSR1 for XG
ensemble voices. I think it is wonderful how the DSR1 gleans the piano
parts from the sequence, without regard to their track position, but I
wish I knew how to direct the piano part(s) away from the DKV that I
prefer to remain non-acoustic.

Any direction as to how (or if) this can be accomplished would be
appreciated. Maybe it is a midi command within the sequence; a menu
setup item on the DSR1 or requires another tone module directed from
the PC.

Many thanks,
Fred
