Greetings Fred,
I wrote a program, some time ago called midimod2. It does various
modifications to MIDI files. Some of these functions were designed to
address certain issues with playing on the DKV. I do not own a DKV
(just a Pianodisc) so I had to rely on feedback from DKV owners to
know if the functions work correctly. There is on function that moves
parts depending on the patch assigned to them. You select a cut off
point on a slider in the program window and any notes that have a
patch less than the cutoff number are moved to channel 1 if not
already there and any that have a higher patch are moved to channel 3.
This was supposed to do exactly what you want but it requires that
your DKV send the channel 1 and 2 data to the piano and the higher
channels to the synth. As far as I know, this was the case when I
wrote the program as the feature was added for someone who wanted to
do just what you want. There are many other features of the program
and there is a help button which brings up a file that explains most
of the workings. You are welcome to ask for help with the program if
it does not seem to do what you want or if it needs to be modified in
some way. I just recently looked the code over because I used the
program as a basis to make a new one so I happen to be a little
familiar with its workings right now and might actually understand it
well enough to modify. There is one condition to using the program. I
require feedback. I can not make these programs work correctly if I
don't hear from users whether they work or not. You can find the
program on this page of my web site.
