I think something under the 4 casters is a good idea but not necessary. Sometimes it is necessary to move the piano out from the wall and you would not want to scratch your floor. You can get caster cups with carpeting on the bottom, or my favorites are the ones at Home Depot that have teflon on them.. Makes it very easy to move the piano.
