I believe the pedals have a lacquer clear coating over the brass - which means it would be a total pain to clean them. You would need to remove the clear coating to get to the brass, and from then on you would constantly need to polish the brass. I know I have seen pianos where the pedals and the brass rods have turned brown, but I don't think I have seen this on a Disklavier. Pedal covers are also a pain because they wear out so quickly then you always see this torn fabric hanging off the pedals.
