I was referring to MP3 files that contain audio accompaniment on one stereo channel and "analog MIDI" on the other channel. Such files could be burned to CD and played on a Disklavier just like Yamaha's PianoSoft Plus Audio CDs. (Or they could be streamed directly from a computer or MP3 player to a piano equipped with "ANALOG MIDI IN" RCA jacks.) My wife is a mezzo-soprano, and I was thinking of sharing recordings of us performing Poulenc's "Banalites" song cycle. Obviously, a MIDI file cannot carry the vocal performance, so this would have to be uploaded as a piano+audio recording in MP3 format. Yamaha's analog MIDI format doesn't compress very reliably to MP3, but we could use Pianomation or PianoDisc format (both of which are supported by the Disklavier). Based on the space and appropriateness concerns raised, I'll hold off on distributing these recordings for now. Mark
