Disklavier

Good morning, everyone.

Fabio, I am going to leave this conversation. I am out of answers. I would like to emphasize, however, that I have never seen a playback-only Disklavier that sends MIDI data when you play the keys. Perhaps someone else can provide additional information about this specific model.

Fabio, wagon grands made for the US always had a recording feature. I am not familiar with wagon grands that do not.

The recording feature relies on a number of components, including metal shutters on the hammer shanks, a sensor bar about the piano hammers, key sensors beneath the keys, and programmed instructions that reside in circuit boards.

It seems to me that if your Disklavier cannot record, then it does not have the capability of sending MIDI data played from the keys. This is typical of playback-only Disklaviers.

--press the MIDI button to show the MIDI Out setting

--press the R button to set MIDI Out = Keyboard Out

--or press the L button to set MIDI Out = Delay Out

--press the MIDI button to exit

You might cycle through all of the MIDI settings until you get to "MIDI Parameter All Initialize?" and then press the R button twice to reinitialize all of the MIDI settings. That will set MIDI OUt to Delay (which is the default), and then you can try again to change it.

If your instrument does have a record feature and everything so far fails, try accessing this MIDI Out setting screen again and see if any other buttons will change the display. On the upright MX100A& B, the Record button is used to toggle between the MIDI Out settings.

It sounds as though you have a so-called "wagon grand" but one that was not made for North America.

I don't know if this procedure will work.

Try pressing the MIDI button and see if you can use the R and L buttons to toggle between MIDI Out = Delay Out and MIDI Out = KBD Out.

Additionally, once you get to the MIDI Out screen, I think that you can advance through other MIDI screens with the + and - buttons.
