Re: [disklavier] Re: Converting Pianomation CDs

2008-03-20 by Joseph Slomka Jr

I own a unit called "Midiman QRS CD Keyboard Player" - This unit is no longer made but ther may still be a few around for sale. It will take the audio output from a CD player that is playing a QRS cd and output MIDI to put into your disklavier or other MIDI device. It will not decode any of the disklavier disks to MIDI.

Greetings serisky,

I don't have any direct experience with this. Mark suggested using a CD player on your DKV. If the DKV has an input for audio encoded MIDI from an external source, you can try connecting an audio CD player and playing the files this way. I have no idea if the DKV will correctly interpret the PM files through this connection. It will not cost you anything to try it. If you can find a PM owner, they might be willing to trade the CDs in exchange for MIDI files if they can output MIDI while playing a CD.
