Thanks to Don and Steven! I'm new to the group and would appreciate
some input regarding choosing between the Linksys wireless Ethernet
bridge and the Netgear wall-plugged Ethernet.
I was able to get my Mark IV to wirelessly connect to the Internet
with the Linksys wireless Ethernet bridge by first running an
Ethernet cable between the Mark IV and my router (I guess to give the
Mark IV the "scent" or whatever of Internet) and then by
disconnecting the Mark IV from the router and running the Ethernet
cable directly between the Mark IV and the Linksys wireless bridge.
HOWEVER, if I do a shutdown of the Disklavier, the Linksys wireless
connection stops working. That is, if I ever power down the
Disklavier, I am required to re-run the Ethernet cable between the
router and the Mark IV to again remind the Mark IV of the "scent" of
Internet, after which I can reconnect the Linksys wireless bridge and
it works. (I seemed to have this same problem when I went into
STANDBY mode, but I figured out that I just need to wait ten minutes
after a return to active mode to connect with the Internet.) This
could prove to be a class "A" hassle over time, particularly if I
have to power down and disconnect the Disklavier every few months.
Don, have you had these issues with your Linksys wireless Ethernet
bridge? If so, have you resolved them?
Steven, does the Netgear wall-plugged Ethernet have any issues like
this?
I don't think I have any mis-configuration of the Linksys wireless
Ethernet bridge since I can connect my laptop or my desktop to the
Linksys bridge and it automatically works right away. Did anyone
else have any other thoughts?
Many thanks to all, and I appreciate your input.
