Good morning, everyone. Kevin, you have two choices for sending and receiving MIDI data with the Mark IV: --MIDI In/Out ports --USB MIDI port In the case of the MIDI In/Out ports, you have to make a connection to the I/O Center using MIDI cables. At the computer end, you have to use a MIDI interface (usually connected to the computer with a USB cable). In the case of the USB MIDI port, all you have to do is use the proper USB "device" cable: http://www.usbwholesale.com/usb2cables.htm When using the USB MIDI port, you can think of the MIDI interface as being built into the piano. If you use the MIDI ports and MIDI interface, you may or may not need to install a driver. It depends upon the interface. If you use the direct USB connection, you need to install the Yamaha USB MIDI driver (which is the same driver used by other Yamaha keyboards and interfaces). You can get it here: http://www.global.yamaha.com/download/usb_midi/index.html Regards, PianoBench www.georgelitterst.com www.timewarptech.com On Jun 24, 2008, at 9:57 AM, Kevin Goroway wrote: > > I've recently connected an old computer to my MarkIV via an old > soundblaster sound card and the MIDI/Joystick cable. > > Turns out that that computer probably won't handle what I'd like to > do ultimately, so I'm buying/building a new one.
