Jorge,
Thanks for your response...but I think you misunderstood me.
The current situation works fine (soundblaster Midi/joystick to MIDI In/Out on the Mark IV). But the new computer that I'm building only has PCI slots...and this soundcard isn't PCI. So, I'm wondering if I can do direct USB from the computer to USB on the Disklavier, and avoid MIDI cables entirely. I know Yamaha sells a USB to MIDI interface, but I'm not talking about that either...
(Oh, and I'll be using XP, not Vista)
Thanks.

The problem when conecting a DKV via USB TO MIDI is not the USB interface
it its windowas Vista, if your PC uses windows XP you sould have no probelms after instaling the drivers that came with the interface.
Is you use windows vista it is a little tricky, please email me outside the group it is a "software only" issue.

Do you have the cable?
2008/6/24 Kevin Goroway <kgoroway@yahoo. com>:
I've recently connected an old computer to my MarkIV via an old soundblaster sound card and the MIDI/Joystick cable.
Turns out that that computer probably won't handle what I'd like to do ultimately, so I'm buying/building a new one. Do I really need MIDI capability on this new computer, or can I just connect the computer to the disklavier via USB? I noticed that the Disklavier allows you to tell it that MIDI will be arriving via USB, so I suspect that this is possible. Will I need to install drivers for this on the computer? Where can I get those?
Thanks in advance.
