Re: Re[2]: [disklavier] Furniture suggestions?

2008-06-26 by Kevin Goroway

I considered a laptop, but discounted it as a possibility because they are more expensive and I don't need the portability. I really want a dedicated computer (with a large screen) to be able to use software like OMB, and various soft-synths to greatly improve upon the build-in sounds that the Diskalvier has.

Of course...there wouldn't have been any furniture issues with a laptop... <sigh>

I have made the decision to remove the tablet remote from the piano for good. It takes up space, and isn't good for anything as far as I can tell. That should reduce the clutter somewhat. Having a dedicated computer next to the piano can have DKVBrowser running all the time anyway. Maybe yamaha will release an update for the tablet remote that will make me change my mind, but I don't see that happening. Maybe I can sell it to someone who really really wants it?

Greetings Kevin,

Another possibility is using a wireless MIDI connection at the piano and a notebook computer or put the desktop computer wherever makes sense. The notebook is best because it can be anywhere in the room or closed up and or taken completely out of the room when not actually using it.
