Re: Threaded Discussions? (was: RE: [disklavier] Furniture suggestions?)

Josh,

This is a good suggestion, and one that has been brought up before. I'm not sure why it never took hold. I actually enjoy browsing through the subjects that don't directly impact me. The recent thread on software for the Mac for example...I don't have a Mac, never plan on having a Mac, but found the discussion interesting.

Messages that are completely off topic (like this one, for example) are easily deleted. I even don't mind the fact that I don't have the concept of a "kill" file like a usenet reader to ignore specific users who have clearly demonstrated that they think this forum is theirs and that everyone should abide by their rules. The delete button works there also.

That being said, if we had a real forum, I could choose to read all of the messages while others could read only their private inbox if they so choose. Having the choice would be nice.

-Kevin

I'm new to the group (brand new DC2M4) so I may be way out of
line suggesting this, but I'll dive in anyway...
Maybe it's time to think about this group moving to a real forum
system rather than the antiquated Yahoo Groups system.

A real threaded discussion board would let those who wanted to
read a topic read it, reply to their heart's content, and let others who don't
wish to participate skip to another thread.

I can see both sides in this little dispute... and think the
technology here is partly to blame. The fact that Yahoo Groups sends
everything to everybody (yes, I'm aware you don't have to take the emails) is a
big issue.

Kevin,

Would you really think a knocked down computer cabinet would look good
next to the high quality furniture and finish of a Yamaha piano. Do you
have a do it yourself brain kit too.

Take it private.
