Frank, That's a really good idea...but do they come as small as 20" or so? I'll have to look around.

Hi kevin,
Getting in on this late, but a thought is to not
buy a computer monitor, rather an HD TV monitor that has computer inputs,
composit video, HDMI, etc...etc... .
I have a 32" 720d in the living room which has 2
composit, 2 rgb component, 2 "S"video, as well as HDMI. All selectable with the
remote.
Just my $0.02 worth.
BTW.... just to keep it on topic... It's located in
the room next to the room with the Yamaha :-)
Kindest regards
Frank Evans

Greetings Kevin,

to find just the right monitor aesthetically speaking you may hove to look at some old stuff or accept something that is not entirely right but is the right color. something that can extend the range of possibilities is a device that converts various video formats to VGA. don't know if they still make them but i have an old thing by viewsonic, i think, that does this. i also have a nice black monitor that goes with it. it is stain black, not glossy. krylon makes spray paint specifically to stick to plastic. you can take the housing apart spray it and put it back if black gloss is really important to you.
