At various times in the past, Yamaha has provided upgrade options, but there has been no announcement of such an upgrade from pre-Mark IV to Mark IV. That does not rule such an upgrade out in the future, however. It is worth noting that there are substantial architectural differences between Mark IVs and all previous models. The biggest difference as far as user features are concerned is that the Mark IV relies on an embedded Linux computer. Many people on this list have added some of the Mark IV conveniences to their pre-Mark IV Disklaviers by adding a personal computer to their instrument.
